If I can be real with you, last week I was struggling with doubting myself in many areas. Doubt was very subtle at first. I felt a little unfocused, a little emotional, and wasn’t productive. This created a snowball effect of yucky emotions and more doubt. After a few days, the lightbulb finally came on. I finally realized the root of my frustration was doubt! Doubt slipped in quietly and it had a tight grip on me. I knew I had to push doubt out of my life to refocus on my goals.
I’m a certified personal trainer and a nutrition coach. I help my clients create a healthier lifestyle with simple nutrition and regular exercise. It makes my heart absolutely sing when my clients learn healthy habits and earn confidence. I get so excited because this can create a positive domino effect in other areas of her life. Plus she can inspire her friends and family to make healthier choices too!
I’ve seen how self doubt affects many of the women I work with. A client will begin passionate about creating a healthier lifestyle and reaching her goals. She’s all in and excited!!! But then self doubt sneaks in and can steal that passion. Passion fires us up! But doubt puts the brakes on!! She may have doubts that about “free time” for exercise, or doubt that she can avoid temptations at a restaurant, or has doubts because the pounds aren’t dropping off super fast.
Let’s be real! Changes aren’t easy and our brain intentionally wants to stay in safety mode. As a result, these doubts lead to being unfocused in keeping up with these healthy habits. It’s easy to skip a workout, or a healthy meal, if you feel “too busy” or somehow get lost scrolling online.
So is there any hope with overcoming self doubt?? YES!! When you recognize doubt in your life, stop and ask yourself what’s going on. What is the reason that you don’t believe you can lose weight or exercise daily, etc.? IS that thought logical? You will realize that it’s NOT logical! There is nothing that is impossible with a plan and commitment. To get out of the doubt slump, take a step toward activities that will support your goal. If it’s weight loss, plan your meals. Then, start to schedule in workouts. Having a plan and taking your 1st step will lead to the next step, and the next step.
I am a big believer in creating goals for myself and my clients! The first step I take with clients is creating goals. This gives us a focal point to start to create a plan to support the goal. I’ve created a new workout book to help my clients in my upcoming February online program. Its called a “Goal Digger’s Guide to Success”. I would love to share it with YOU to help kick start your goals for 2017. Just click here to request the workout.
So…are you going to let doubt put the brakes on? Or are you ready to put STOMP the gas and excel in 2017?
