Emotions are the 1 thing we should never eat. Did you know emotional eating may stall your weight loss progress?
Emotional eating is simply defined by using food to cope with discomfort.
Here are a few examples:
- You have a stressful day at work. Everything went wrong and at the end of the day you want to forget it all in a bag of chips, or in a ice cream sundae.
- Or maybe you’ve had a fight with your husband, mother, to someone else and the donut shop calls your name!
- Or maybe you’ve felt depressed or lonely and decide to find a short term fix with a bag of drive thru food.
Emotional eating comes in many forms but the negative affects are the same. WE don’t crave veggies when we are stressed. We usually reach out for the addicting combo of foods that contain high levels of fat, salt, and sugar. This trifecta of taste makes it hard too know when to stop eating. Our brain can only focus on more! It can cause weight gain, intensify future cravings, and keep the cycle of yo yo dieting going.
