Here’s what I know–
You have a list of priorities and responsibilities that demand your time. But what about making time for more of what you love?
Do you ever feel like you’re giving too much of yourself?
Now that it’s spring, there’s no better time to do some spring cleaning for your personal life. Its time to get back more of what you pour into other areas of your life!
Start with these steps to make it happen today!
1. Be honest with yourself
If you could create your perfect life, what would it be? Write down the things that you would like to have more time for in your life, like reading, learning a hobby or spending time with people that you enjoy being around.
2. Reflect on the things you’re currently doing
Make a list of what you currently spend your time and energy on — from working to caring for kids to running errands. Think of it as a overview of your weekly life. You’ll want to look at this compared to what you want to see more of in your week.
3. Find small ways you can get a little “me time”
You might not be able to change the fact that you have to go to work. Maybe traffic is stressing you out. Instead of making yourself crazy, listen to an audiobook in your travels to maximize your time. Plus reduce stress because you’re not focusing on the stress of driving. Or have a dance party listening to your favorite playlist that helps you destress! Either way keep those hands on 10 and 2! Haha!
Now that warmer weather is here, add in a short walk to your day. This is a great way to destress and get in touch with nature. Just adding a 10-15 minute walk daily can positively impact to your overall health. You’ll feel more energized and clear headed. Plus fill up on your daily dose of vitamin D!
4. Reduce the size of your “but”
If you’re always saying you want to do something and adding “BUT” afterward, it’s time to change that way of thinking. Those three little letters are convincing you that you don’t deserve the things you want more of.
Let’s look at a situation where you may add “but” in your life. You need to buy groceries for your family. No one can deny eating is not important.
“I want to take that new workout class, but I have to go to the supermarket.” Well, that’s not entirely correct. The online world allows you to order all of the things you need and have it brought out to your car or even better, delivered to your door. Problem solved.
You may even add this “but” when you need to make dinner. No, you don’t. You can prep those meals on your Sunday and voila! Your early evenings are free to more of what you love. Most people are trained to feel guilty for indulging in the things they want. It’s important to remember you NEED to do those things. You simply can’t be at your best for everyone else if you aren’t investing in yourself.
What are 3 things you want to make more room for in your life?
For me personally, I’m working to free up time in my schedule for……….
- More time to read
- Intentional time with my kids
- More adventures with my husband
